report that Tottenham are trying to hijack United's pursuit of Mbeumo – with hopes that landing Brentford boss Thomas Frank as well could sway a deal. Just when it looked like Mbeumo could head to United, Tottenham appear to have thrown a spanner in the works. Spurs are currently looking for a new manager after sacking head coach Ange Postecoglou, and now it seems they want to secure a double Brentford swoop with Frank and Mbeumo. Reports add that Tottenham technical director Johan Lange, who worked with Frank at Danish club Lyngby, will play a key role in negotiations.

Cameroon international Mbeumo scored a total of 20 goals in the Premier League in the 2024-25 season, with the 25-year-old only behind Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, Manchester City's Erling Haaland, and Newcastle United's Alexander Isak in the scoring charts.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham, who beat United in the Europa League final last month, will be able to oust their Premier League rivals once again as they chase Mbeumo and, separately, Frank in the transfer market.
